About the Tourism Enhancement Fund
The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) was established on 1 October 2013 to give Saint Lucia's tourism industry a meaningful way to contribute to the sustainable development of the island. Through funding, partnerships, and community-focused initiatives, TEF helps ensure that the benefits of tourism extend beyond the visitor experience and create lasting value for Saint Lucians.
Our story
The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) is a private sector initiative established on 1 October 2013, designed to give the tourism industry a greater opportunity to play an integral role in the sustainable development of Saint Lucia.
Tourism is one of Saint Lucia's most important industries, but its impact can extend far beyond visitor spending. TEF helps bridge the gap between tourism growth and ensuring that the benefits generated by tourism reach Saint Lucia's people, communities, environment, and future generations.
Through funding, partnerships, and targeted support, TEF helps direct the benefits of tourism toward initiatives that strengthen communities, empower young people, protect the environment, enhance the tourism product, and create opportunities for current and future generations.
The US$2 model
A small contribution that creates massive island-wide impact.
US$2per night
Voluntary donation
Guests at participating hotels can opt-in to a US$2 per night charge on their room bill.
Pooled resources
The SLHTA collects and pools these funds into a dedicated, transparent account.
Direct funding
Grants are disbursed to approved local projects, schools, and NGOs across the island.
