How TEF creates impact

Established on 1 October 2013. The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) is a private-sector initiative that enables Saint Lucia's tourism industry to contribute directly to the sustainable development of the island. TEF connects the success of tourism with initiatives that strengthen communities, expand opportunities, and protect natural resources.

  • Funding meaningful initiatives

TEF provides financial support and resources to eligible community, environmental, youth, education, training, and tourism-related initiatives.

  • Reinvesting in Saint Lucia

Tourism contributions are directed back into initiatives that create broader benefits for Saint Lucia's people, communities, and environment.

  • Building skills & opportunities

TEF supports education, training, youth development, and capacity-building initiatives that create pathways for personal and professional growth.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Tourism Enhancement Fund?

The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) is a private sector initiative established on 1 October 2013 to give Saint Lucia's tourism industry a greater opportunity to play an integral role in the sustainable development of the destination. Through funding, partnerships, and targeted support, TEF directs the benefits of tourism toward initiatives that strengthen communities, empower young people, protect the environment, and create opportunities for current and future generations.

Where does my donation go?

Donations support initiatives across several priority areas, including community development, youth empowerment, environmental conservation, education and training, capacity building, and tourism product enhancement. TEF reinvests tourism contributions back into Saint Lucia so that the success of the industry creates wider benefits for people, communities, and the environment. You can view our impact reports to see how funds are utilized.

How is the fund financed?

The primary source of financing is the voluntary US$2 per room, per night donation made by guests staying at participating hotels. TEF also accepts direct donations from individuals, organizations, and international supporters who wish to contribute to Saint Lucia's sustainable development.

Who can apply for a grant?

Registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, schools, colleges, religious organizations, and research organizations in Saint Lucia are eligible to apply. Grants are not awarded to individuals. The proposed projects must align with TEF's development priorities, which include community development, education, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and tourism product enhancement.
